Today's Voidchild is dedicated to anyone who's ever wanted to punch a kid in the face.

No seriously, don't do that...

Could it be time for the "you're not like the other kids" talk? She must have suspicions already, if they haven't told her yet.

She's aware to some extent, that she's different at least. But how aware any of these people are is a different question. =x

Sadly, albino people face extreme prejudice in Kenya and other parts of Africa, to the point of actually being hunted down and having their body parts sold for witchcraft, so there's a real world precedent beyond her supernatural powers :(

I'll confess to ignorance about this. Having only surface level knowledge about Kenya and its culture is one (but far from the only) reason why I chose to place my comic in a semi-fictional world. The subject matter of physical differences and how they relate to certain cultures and so wasn't meant to be a prominent theme in Voidchild, albeit not one I want to close my eyes too.

Thanks for educating about this, I'm actually going to go read up about it to further educate myself and make sure that despite being in a semi-fictional world, this comic treats that subject with the respect it deserves.

It wasn't meant to derail your comic, but rather to reinforce the themes of otherness that Mary has lived with her entire life. It's always good to learn more, though.

Dont worry about it at all. I genuinely think it's important to know these things and I'm glad you brought it up (for both reasons). ^_^
