Let's talk about expectations, or the lack thereof. And then walk off...

I don't think it's possible for her to settle down. Heroes never settle >:o
I've been wondering, what ethnicity is Mary? I've seen fan art of her with peachy skin, maybe I'm taking the color scheme of the comic too literally because I figured she was literally white.

It's been suggested that Mary was born in the UK. But she, I'm guessing, identifies more ethnically as a Kenyan. And I think why some of the fan art shows her skin as peachy is probably because the black/white style of the comic. Mary's skin is pale white and her hair is snow white just as you expect. But other caucasians in the comic so far have used the same hue. It's something I might address once the story turns back towards Victoria to help distinguish her a bit more.

He's a genuinely great parent and really knows what he's doing. Mary is fortunate to have had that moral compass, at least for a time (?)

Now now, let's not spend too much time on such worrisome thinking! ;)
As for his parenting, I never wanted to portray Raheem as a "perfect" parent because there's no such thing. His arc in this chapter however is very much about coming to terms with putting someone else's needs and wants before his own and as such getting at the core of what being a parent is about.

Apparently she finds all this talk of marriage, life choices, and taking responsibility for them very unsettling. :(

Hmm, there may be another reason why she's walking off that we'll understand better in the next few pages (I hope).

I think she's probably has a few things to deal with, all of which dad might now be aware of. =x

This is an unexpected back-story, which I do enjoy...not like I was thinking!

Happy to hear it! When it started I was concerned that readers would find the break from the main story too much. But people have really taken to this part and I'm very happy about that!
