Was that soup left unattended?! This really is chaos. Though that seems to be the least of Mary's worries.

Hmm, it seems someone left from the cabin in a hurry! Going so far as to leave precious soup on the stove. Surprisingly, it seems to be doing better than when Raheem tends to it himself! 8)

Oh, this is meant to be as accurate a flashback as Mary can remember it. It's been a few years though I guess, but still. The point of chapter 2 is to bring the reader completely up to speed about everything Mary knows about herself and her origin.
