Imad's had enough, in today's Voidchild.
Computer update! I got it back this week and I've been working hard on new pages AND the reader questions!
I actually got quite a few of those, so I'll be splitting it up into two separate updates. One will go up after we're halfway done with the issue and will feature a mix of questions and answers. The second one will go up after we're done with chapter 2 and will focus on all the questions specifically directed at Mary. So please look forward to that! ^_^

People understand the angst (I guess it's angst?) of parent death initially, but after a couple years they expect it to go away. just like batman

I think you could call it angst, and a number of other things. Lol, I guess Batman is a bad example of "get over it" though. XD

Batman's a terrible example because his entire life is devoted to revenge on the unknown criminal who killed his parents when he was a boy. Not just because it's perhaps not the most healthy response or the best plan to help Gotham, but because he never once truly grieved their loss. From the moment the Waynes his the pavement, his entire life was training to fight crime and then fighting crime. Mary's lingering shell shock is far more realistic.

Oh yeah, Batman/Bruce is a lovable but certifiable nutcase. I don't intend to portray Mary in the same sense. I guess she's mostly directing the blame onto herself rather than on the events and beings that attacked them in Kynthale.

*Sigh* Poor Imad bids fair to reawaken Mary's repressed emotions, probably with disastrous results all around. ><
Batman, specifically the original, unbowdlerized version, would indeed be a bad example, as he was an actual psychotic who didn't really fight crime except as a by-product of killing and torturing the criminals he caught.
the character was....considerably....re-imagined for mass-market release. ^^

Oh no you don't! This ain't turning into a Shakespearean tragedy! ;)
It is super-interesting for me as an author to see reactions to Voidchild's story. Overall, the majority of readers seem to be expecting more tragedy. They must think me, the lovable author, a cruel monster. ;)
I won't say what's coming of course, but it might be telling that I'm seeing these expectations. Unless I'm reading too much into reader reactions and/or misinterpreting. =P
Oh, and I always love someone who's down with their batman history!
