That first panel may look the same, but the attentive reader will note some small differences. Nothing significant of the story, I just didn't want to draw the same panel again. ^_^

Thanks! I'm a huge fan of cinematic storytelling in comics and try to get that feel into Voidchild. Sometimes, I art above my ability. But then again, it's the only way to get better at it. =D

Mary appreciates the lack of dread you express about her person! ^_^
But whether she wants to be seen as such or not may be moot. We'll know more shortly.

I am very much implying things in this transition and the top panel. It's not something I intended to be a huge mystery, but I like to leave it to the reader to interpret the way they want too. ^_^

After that backstory I connect and fear for Mary's well being even more, but at the same time she's super powerful so that mitigates it a bit ha.

Her only limiting factor, as far as power goes, might be herself. And some other things coming up later in this chapter.
But as her origin story also revealed, there's more than one way to get hurt. =0
