The mysterious pillar goes on the offensive!
I want to credit Jay Fabares, co-creator of the wonderful comic The Pale who often helps and gives me advice on how to develop my art. She was especially helpful with making this page and I'm very grateful for this!

Typical Victoria initiation perhaps? I've never been. And I might just steer clear of it. Seems a little too strange and dangerous for my tastes!

As wild as it would be for a sentient pillar to be Mary's new arch enemy, I think someone's probably controlling it.

Well, someone's mastered telekinesis, and let's hope for Mary's sake they didn't also create the thing they're telekineticking (is that a word) ?

This may also be a different kind of supernatural danger than telekinesis. Magic is always weird stuff to try and explain and I'll rarely try to get too technical with it, but the nature of it will be touched on in the next page.

Even if someone is controlling the pillar(s) telekinetically, it's still a weird pillar. Like, those five pieces shouldn't be able to form an octagonal pillar.

The best thing about doing a supernatural comic is that, whenever something more or less illogical, like that happens. I can always explain it away by saying "a wizard did it".
(to be honest, I didn't really consider the octagonal shape and the splitting when I drew it. It's just what made sense to make the pillar read well and I wanted it to split into five smaller bars)

Hah, I'll say this much. It's not a new playmate. There's not a huge mystery behind it. But Mary's made a few enemies and interested parties already in her short time in Victoria. ^_^
