The reason they look different must be that Amir wears special contact lenses so that his eyes look normal. It's the only explanation!!

The next page is, uhm, let's call it a bit "chatty". You might wanna get your notepad out.
Amir might be making some assumptions about life experiences here. They do present pretty differently, personality-wise. Some of which will be explained before we're done with the chapter. As will be the case with gleaming into Amir's intentions.

In the animated Voidchild series, I would have Amir voiced by Robert Carlyle, with Mary voiced by Jenna Coleman

Robert Carlyle is scottish, isn't he? That's an interesting choice! Jenna Coleman could be good fit. I imagine Mary to have a fairly deep and slightly detached voice, especially after Raheem's death. But listening to Jenna, I think she could possibly pull it off.
I think I'll slate the casting calls for the animated series to early next year I think. ;)
