Despair? Been there, done that. Some of us would rather focus on solutions. Some of us...

Heads-up that Voidchild will update this Sunday and the following Wednesday and then go on a short holiday break!

There is still the question of why the Void needs two children to end one existence...

You’re asking all the right questions. ;)

he's avoiding looking for a solution

The Void having more than one child despite only needing one is strange. Amir could be a backup body, in case something happens to Mary that makes her unfit to end everything.

That's an interesting theory. He does talk about "the" voidchild as in singular too, except for when he refers to the two of them (void-peas).

Seems weird to be avoiding something like this though...

Humans are great at dealing with adversity but terrible at dealing with uncertainty. Mary, at least, has already accepted the latter's possibilities, for good and ill.

It's been so long, but Mary is actually quoting Raheem here. If you remember, he argued that after he lost the love of his Life and was about to end his Life a huge curveball was thrown his way in the form of finding Mary in those Woods. In his mind, by complete happenstance. And as we know, that did save his life at the time.

Uncertainty, when faced with catatrophic certainty, can be a comforting thing. Even though it is, as you say, a difficult thing for people to deal with. Unless they embrace it. Like Raheem did. ;)

He's awfully dismissive for someone who is supposed to be helping her. Altruism and nihilism are a poor mix.

Now I'm wondering if the inevitability of the Void's triumph is real or simply Amir's preference. He wouldn't be the first fanatic to long for Ragnarok.

His use of the singular form of Voidchild also makes me wonder if "Voidchild" is a class of beings who bear the void within, only to be discarded one by one when they fail to fulfill their mission, and he and Mary are simply the latest iterations......

There is another possibility, though, and if that's what he means, Mary should blast him on general principles. ><

Oh I Always looove to hear your line of reasoning. I'm also thrilled to see that readers all over are, with this page, picking up on the immediate incongruities in his account. Plenty of theories abound.

I am curious what you're suggesting with that final possibility though. Now you've got me curious! ^_^

It's the concept of "two being one."

Although if my allusion didn't make you smile, it probably wasn't where he was going with it. :)

lol, I always smile when I read your comments. But keep in mind that this author is a particularly dull-witted one. ;)

(It's my defense mechanism against spilling too many of my story beans.)

Often quoted at weddings, the Gospel of Mark Chapter 10, verse 8 contains the phrase.

Amir hasn't actually broached the concept of "oneness", but he keeps talking about how they're "the same", and I'm a suspicious old coot....

I will say this, being a suspicious old coot may serve you well. I won’t confirm nor deny anything at this point. But there may be elements of what you’ve touched within the truth here. We’ll start inching towards it soon enough. ;)

Bottom left panel- he's not really answering her question. So there's more to this than he says, but he doesn't want her to know (?)

There definitely is. How are you supposed to be manipulative if you give everything away at once? ;)
