I can't tell you how happy I am to draw Mary in something other than tatters finally!
And let's pray Amir, Movian or any other of her other foes never learns of this kryptonite-like foible of hers. =x

Can I say I love how this page comes from the nail biting horror of last haha. The dreaded adorable mouse, how will Mary cope with this foes deadly charms!? XD
I'll echo it's so cool to see Mary in non tattered clothing. She's rocking those shades, child of the void and clean style! Speaking of clean I don't know if it's me but the lineart looks really polished, I couldn't have patience with backgrounds this detailed but it pays off :)

Hah, thank you. It's quite a contrast from the previous page. Even if this isn't the cleanest of neighbourhoods. At least, Mary found something to appreciate about it besides strutting down the streets in actual non-torn clothes. =D
And thank you, tbh, after my recent break I think I needed some time to "get back into it" and I personally felt my art was a bit stiff in the last couple of pages. This time I was actually drawing "looser" and I like the result. Backgrounds are a hard thing to prioritize and I'm still practicing how to judge their necessity, level of detail etc. But it's fun to hear that they're adding something. =)

Interesting, is the mouse literally sparkling or is that just Mary's perspective? In this world either is a realistic possibility

That's a good point. This time around though, it's 100% through Mary's Eyes. Indicating that she may have some trouble composing herself at the sight of this Little furball. ;)

This page, and mouse, very nearly caused Voidchild to tip over into "full anime/manga" territory.
Seeing Abe is a good guess, but he actually live in a (slightly) nicer part of town. ;)
Trivia re: the name of the district… It might be a mix of typical English naming convention but also me playing a video game where the phrase "Ashen One" was used recurringly and I just liked the sound of it. =D

There may be a different kind of… "monster" hiding on the other side of that door.
And I think it may be inevitable that, at some point, there will be attacking of some sort. Monster vs. Voidchild! O_o
