I'd say that's very observant of you. If you look back, Mary has been relying a bit on luck (and maybe some bad luck) rather than skill when it comes to her sleuthing. And when going at it alone, for all the power she wields, things have not turned out all that well for her...

The Serious Crimes Unit overlooking a key piece of evidence? I can believe that.
Whatever ends up happening in this chapter, perhaps Mary gains some newfound confidence in them as a team. Nothing wrong with relying on, well, a lot of luck, even in investigating, I say!

Well whatever’s bothering Mary might have to be addressed right now. Thank god she’s at least very direct. And hopefully we’ll find out more about why in the next page.

Well, I doubt Mary would’ve developed a dislike for Abe. In fact, maybe the problem is that they haven’t had time to develop much of anything so far? A lack of trust or bond can sometimes be a problem in and of itself.
Ah but what do I know. Thankfully Mary is forthcoming enough that she’ll probably share her thoughts in the very next page! ;)

Oh man Mary must have such mixed feelings here, but it makes sense she's been solo for a while..it must be strange working with someone else. Even if Abe is a nice guy
Wonder how it'll pan out...or if something dangerous will force them to work together D:

The specific reasons for Mary's doubts will become clear in the next few pages. Suffice to say it may be a mix of things, just like you suggest. But with a specific focus on one aspect on their short venture together so far.
And as for something dangerous lurking in the dark of this place? Heaven's forbid... ;)
