I know right? She’s just being judged because she’s a monster-like creature with massive spiderleg bone protrusions, bloodshot eyes, distorted protrusions and… uhm… maybe if she combed her hair?

Heh, Mary appears to be a brawler at heart, since she has at least two ranged attacks. Telekinesis (see HERE), and the void, but she persists in fisticuffs. ^^

You’ve a great memory! ^_^ I guess it might depend on what she’s looking to get done. The “telekinesis” and the void may be one and the same and is harder to control whereas up-close nets more control and precision. In this case, ranged options might inadvertently caused harm to Abe as well as the monster.
Though, at times I think she just goes with her instincts and that’s why Amir got so many punches to the face! :D

That's not quite fair. Amir's face absolutely demands to be punched. ^^
EDIT: I would differentiate telekinesis and the Void thusly: With telekinesis, she might be able to slam a certain monster repeatedly against floor, ceiling, and walls, followed by a good, hard, disorienting spin, while the Void could be utilised by creating a series of fairly small, short duration apertures suitable for snipping off various spidery bits. "Have I your attention, yet? No? Well, then...." ^^

Almost missed this edit! I love it when anyone who reads Voidchild goes in-depth with their thoughts and interpretations of what's going on. And I see your point now. I think that latter example, the "portals/apertures", would very much be a possibility for Mary. But as displayed in the previous chapter, when fighting Amir. it seems like while he knows how to make use of The Void's powers this way, she's lagging behind on her mastery of the ability.
Both variants I will say originate from the same power sources. I always imagined everything Mary does with her powers, like lifting an object and throwing it to flying, is her having to create an opening or openings to The Void. Like having to juggle the push and pull of miniature black holes or the vacuum in space created from the spatial distortion. That's why it's so dangerous and imprecise and should give you an inkling of how much she's had to work to get it to a managable level where she doesn't just smash or pull apart anything it interacts with.
Uhm, hopefully that got your attention as well and didn't bore anyone who read it to tears. XD
